Blended from 44% Cabernet Sauvignon; 36% Merlot; and smaller amounts of Petit Verdot, Malbec, and Cab Franc, this red is angular and quite focused. Concentrated tarry notes arrive early with a swath of blackberry preserves and brown-sugared apple skins; as the wine opens up, it remains sensationally plush while bringing in flavors of clove and sage.
This blend leads with 44% Cabernet Sauvignon and 36% Merlot, filling in the rest with Petit Verdot, Malbec and Cabernet Franc. Together, a velvety smooth, full-bodied expression of smoked meat, blackberry and effusive acidity is met by supple tannin and a touch of oak spice.
