Ilegal Joven Mezcal offers a robust agave profile with eucalyptus and mineral notes balancing subtle hints of green apple, fresh citrus, and red chiltepe, complemented by a light smokiness. Founded around 2003 by John Rexer, its creation was born from the unconventional transport of mezcal from Oaxaca to his bar, Café No Sé in Antigua Guatemala—the first mezcal bar outside Mexico. Established officially in 2006 to supply this bar, each bottle honors its origins with the inscription: “Originally produced for: Café No Sé Mezcal Bar.”
