La Dame de Montrose Saint Estephe is crafted with the same careful attention as the estate’s First Wine, using grapes harvested from the identical vineyard. This second label highlights a supple and silky predominance of Merlot, which brings smoothness and elegance to the blend. Expressive red fruit aromas and flavors showcase the unique terroir, delivering a refined, approachable style that contrasts with the more intricate complexity of the First Wine. The blend consists of 48% Merlot, 46% Cabernet Sauvignon, 3% Petit Verdot, and 3% Cabernet Franc, creating a harmonious balance that appeals to both enthusiasts and collectors seeking a nuanced yet accessible Saint Estephe.
Blackcurrants with crushed stone and slate. Lead pencil. Medium-bodied with ultra-fine tannins and precision. Fantastic length and focus. One of the best Dames I have had.
The 2020 La Dame de Montrose is fabulous. Rich, dense and expansive, the 2020 offers notable vibrancy and a good bit of energy too. Bright acids cut through a core of red/purplish fruit in what is an intense, wonderfully saline Dame. The 2020 finishes with remarkable elegance and sophistication. - Antonio Galloni
