Thomas S. Moore Cognac Cask Finished Bourbon is part of Barton 1792's extended cask-finished series, first released in 2022. The bourbon is aged 5β6 years in new charred oak barrels before spending an additional 2β4 years in cognac casks that previously held aged cognac. This finish gives the bourbon complex aromas of citrus, dried fruit, jasmine, and lavender, with a smooth palate featuring notes of orange, apricot, vanilla, and a touch of toasted oak. Itβs considered one of the most balanced and elegant expressions in the lineup, with layers of stone fruit, baking spice, and floral perfume. While refined and nuanced, the cognac influence slightly softens the traditional bourbon character, offering a more delicate and Scotch-like sipping experience.
